FTA Announces Research Funding to Improve People’s Access to Transportation
Published on: August 9, 2022
In its continuing efforts to reduce barriers to transportation for all Americans, FTA today announced a $6 million Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to help improve people’s access to affordable transportation, especially in areas that currently lack efficient and convenient transit options and measure the effect of reducing transportation insecurity through improved mobility access for people and their communities.
Under the newly created Mobility, Access and Transportation Insecurity: Creating Links to Opportunity Program, FTA will partner with one organization as program lead to develop and implement a research and demonstration program to improve access to affordable transportation options for everyday destinations, and demonstrate the value of those options in reducing barriers to transportation and opportunity.
FTA plans to share findings with the public so research organizations, transit agencies, and others can learn from and expand upon the insights developed from FTA-funded research.
