Active Volunteer Driver Safety (ONLINE)

Once you register, you will receive an email from someone at Minnesota RTAP with registration instructions for the online course within 3 business days. Please note that the instructions are not sent immediately upon registration; getting you set up with instructions can take up to 3 business days. This course is self-paced and open year-round for drivers. Once you complete the course, a certificate will be added to your training profile on mnrtap.us.

Duration: 45 minutes–1 hour, depending on the driver (course is self paced)

Description: Topics include:

• Communication with passengers
• Safety of the volunteer’s vehicle
• Defensive driving
• Avoiding distractions
• Liability and insurance

Following each topic’s presentation, the volunteer will be asked a series of multiple-choice questions, which he or she must answer before moving on to the next topic. To access the quiz, please close out of the video, and select the appropriate section’s quiz from the menu to the right. Upon completion, the volunteer receives a certificate of completion – a good way for the organization to let clients and supporters know its drivers are trained to transport clients safely.
