CDC Publishes new FAQ About Social Distancing on Transit
Published on: July 14, 2021
Recently, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) posted new guidance to its Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about travel to provide information about social distancing while traveling.
The new FAQ – What if I can’t maintain 6 feet of distance from others during travel? – acknowledges that maintaining physical distance is often difficult on public transportation conveyances, including transit. Therefore, it is essential that drivers, operators, and other transportation staff follow additional preventive measures, such as increasing ventilation and cleaning high-touch surfaces.
Travelers should still take steps to protect themselves and others. The CDC also encourages passengers to get vaccinated to protect against COVID-19 and reminds travelers that masks are still required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation and while indoors at U.S. transportation hubs.
