Notice of Funding Opportunity: Grants for Electric Vehicle Charging and Alternative Fueling Stations

The Federal Highway Administration recently announced a new competitive grant opportunity, the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program, to increase publicly accessible electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling infrastructure. Created by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the program will promote cleaner air and combat climate change by making it easier for people to charge in the communities where they live and work.

CFI Program investments will make charging infrastructure accessible to all drivers of electric, hydrogen, propane, and natural gas vehicles and is designed to increase access in underserved and disadvantaged communities. This round of funding makes up to $700 million from fiscal years 2022 and 2023 funding available to strategically deploy EV charging and other alternative vehicle-fueling infrastructure projects in publicly accessible locations in urban and rural communities.

Among the eligible applicants are

• Metropolitan planning organizations
• Public authorities with a transportation function

Webinar #1: Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program will be held March 21, 2023, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. CT

Webinar #2: Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program will be held March 22, 2023, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. CT

Webinars are open to the public and registration is required.
