Webinar: Integrating Asset Management into the Transportation Planning Process

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FTA will host a webinar focused on integrating asset management into planning and programming on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The webinar will provide an overview of FHWA’s and FTA‘s work to help state Departments of Transportation, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and transit agencies better integrate asset management into planning. The project included producing case studies on best practices and hosting peer exchanges to discuss how State DOTs, MPOs, and transit agencies are using data analysis, agency coordination, and other methods to better link planning and programming documents to asset management.

- Gehan Elsayed, West Virginia DOT: Agency Cultural Changes, Scenario Analysis.
- Michele Fedorowicz, Southeast Michigan Council of Governments: Municipal Coordination, Interactive Mapping Tool for Utilities and other Infrastructure to Coordinate with Transportation Projects.
- Laura Zale, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority: Breaking Down External Silos, Integration of Agency Strategic Goals Into State of Good Repair Tool.
During the webinar, staff will cover the roles State DOTs, MPOs, and transit agencies can play and the challenges agencies face concerning integrating asset management and potential opportunities to address those challenges.
