Published on: May 26, 2022
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects people from discrimination based on race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Title VI regulations (49 CFR Part 21) are designed to ensure that Title VI is upheld under any program that DOT financially assists. All recipients receiving financial assistance from FTA, including Indian Tribes, are subject to requirements under Title VI and DOT’s implementing regulations.
This week, FTA updated the pandemic relief Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to include a new question related to Indian Tribes and the preparation and submission of a Title VI Program. See question CR20 for more information.
